Since times immemorial (China, India, the Americas, southern regions, Rome and Athens), plants have been used to prevent and treat illnesses.
Herbal medicine appears to have reached its peak in Italy in the Middle Ages, with the founding of Salerno’s school of medicine, whose influence lasted for many centuries and spread throughout the world.
The school was founded by four doctors – a Roman, a Greek, a Jew and an Arab, possessors of their respective people’s medical knowledge.
Today, science does not dispute the effectiveness of herbal medicine. Scientific progress has or is in the process of confirming the effectiveness of most of the traditional properties of plants.
In fact, 30% of medicines are derived directly from plants, with examples including aspirin, valium, quinine, and so on. Unfortunately, although these are often indispensable, overuse of medicines has become the norm. In France, a report estimates that every year, side effects cause some 18,000 deaths (twice the number caused by road accidents).

Preparation
Pour water at simmering point (not boiling), if possible spring or mineral water, on to a tea bag, and allow to steep for three to five minutes. If you let it infuse for longer, you will finish up with an over-strong brew or a tea with less active theine
You can drink the result as it is, or add honey (for herbal teas only), sugar or fructose.
Whether hot or cold, it’s delicious!
Notes
The combination of the active elements associated with the constituents in our teas and herbal teas makes you feel good naturally. All of these plants, which in principle are intended for adults, only, are traditionally used for this purpose. However, this should not prevent you from following a sensible, balanced diet, following a healthy lifestyle, and undertaking regular physical activity.
